New Figma AI 2024 | Is Figma made a mistake?
Is Figma AI is glitchy? It’s not trained enough? will they turn it off until it’s fully ready?

The problem was first noticed by Andy Allen,who’s the founder of NotBoring Software. This company is known for creating a collection of apps,particularly including a weather app with customization options that allow the user to personalise the appearance according to their style and choice. It also develops other useful applications for the users.

In response to Andy’s statement, the CEO of Figma Dylan Field denied the design tool copying accusations. In spite of denying this, Figma AI has temporarily turned off ‘Make Design’ for a while until they feel confident in its output. They haven’t said when it will work again.

There is a tool in Figma AI named ‘Make Design’ and it will generate UI components and layouts of your choice. In other words, by using this feature you are able to bring your ideas to life. Because this feature lets you create anything that you describe in words. Isn’t it cool?

Result of Allen’s allegations on ‘Make Design Tool’ of Figma
When Allen found out about copying features of Figma’s tool, designers all over the world started freaking out about this problem. It led to growing concerns among the design community.
Allen warned others on X
‘Just a heads up to any designers using the new Make Designs feature that you may want to thoroughly check existing apps or modify the results heavily so that you don’t unknowingly land yourself in legal trouble’
How does Field clarify Allen’s allegations?
Field clarifies by saying that ‘Make Design Tool’ uses pre-built many language models along with;
“systems we commissioned to be used by these models.”
But the problem is that these pre-built design systems give the same answers which is not advantageous for designers who want something fresh.So, the rate of variability is very low.
